Timothy Dow

Instrumental Music : Large Ensemble

The piece is intended to paint a picture of the jollity andbeauty of spring.

Thefirst half of the piece focuses on the liveliness of spring, it is a time ofcarefree fun. The Clarinet brings in the melody at a lively tempo, passing itaround to all the wind instruments, which is a characteristic of this playfulsection of the piece.

Thesecond half of the piece is the beauty of spring, it starts off with the FrenchHorns recapping the original theme, and the Strings carry on the melody. Thistheme slowly grows into a grand, climactic chord, which represents the fullbeauty of spring.
